Tile and slate roof repair.
Repaired, quoted individually.

Slate and tile roofs need specialty technique, so we price those repairs individually after we see the roof. We repair broken or slipped pieces and the flashing around them — repairs only — and we come to you.

What we repair

Typical tile and slate repair jobs.

Cracked, slipped or missing pieces

Individual tiles or slates repaired in place, with photos of what was found before and after.

Flashing around chimneys, walls and valleys

Many leaks on specialty roofs are at the metal details, not the surface. See flashing repair and valley repair.

Pipe boots and vents

Penetrations on tile and slate roofs get repaired like any other. See pipe boot repair.

Eaves and ice dam damage

Ice at the eaves can lift or crack edge pieces. See ice dam repair.

Quoted before work

Scope and price are in writing before work starts, with your agreement.

How pricing works for specialty roofs

The price book lists “Slate, tile, cedar or metal” as an access modifier priced individually: Quoted. That is because the materials, access and technique vary too much for a flat number. Contact us for a free repair estimate. We’ll review the issue and explain the next step. Any additional services require your agreement before work begins.

We don’t diagnose a roof from a photo or a phone call, and we ask that you not climb a tile or slate roof to check — pieces can crack underfoot. We confirm the cause in person and quote from what we find.

What you get

Photos of what we found, a written scope and price before work begins, and a photo report when the job is done. Every eligible repair carries a written warranty on the invoice. Call (586) 698-7094.

Tile & slate FAQ

Questions about tile and slate roof repair.

Do you repair tile and slate roofs?

Yes. Slate and tile repairs are part of our repair-only work. The price book lists slate, tile, cedar and metal as specialty materials that we repair but price individually, so these jobs are quoted rather than priced from a flat list.

How much does a slate or tile repair cost?

It’s quoted individually after we see the roof — the price book shows “Quoted” for specialty materials. Contact us for a free repair estimate. We’ll review the issue and explain the next step. Any additional services require your agreement before work begins.

Can you fix a few cracked or slipped tiles or slates?

Often, that’s exactly what a repair is: individual pieces and the flashing around them. We’ll show you photos of what we find and quote the repair before work starts. Matching an existing piece can be a limiting factor on older roofs, and we’ll tell you what we find.

Can you tell what’s wrong from a photo?

A photo helps us plan, but we don’t diagnose a roof remotely. Tile and slate roofs can be fragile underfoot, so please don’t climb up to check — we confirm the cause in person.

Is the leak in the tile or in the flashing?

Often it’s the flashing at a chimney, valley or wall rather than the tile or slate itself. We repair whichever is failing. See flashing repair and valley repair.

The roof is leaking now. What should I do?

Stay off the roof, move belongings away from the drip and photograph the damage. If water is actively coming in, call (586) 698-7094 to check same-week availability for emergency tarping.
