Roof Pest Prevention — seal the roof, keep them out.
Mice, rats, squirrels, and raccoons get into attics through the roof — ridge vents, vent pipes, and gaps around roof penetrations. We seal those roof-side openings with guards and chew-proof materials so pests can't use them to get in.
What we do
- Ridge vent guards — a metal guard fitted over your existing ridge vent, secured so animals can't lift or chew through the vent edges. Airflow stays open.
- Vent pipe caps — vented caps on plumbing and exhaust pipes that block entry while letting air out. We never seal a vent shut.
- Penetration sealing — gable vents screened, soffit and fascia gaps closed, and gaps around roof penetrations sealed with materials pests can't chew through.
What we don't do
- No pesticides, sprays, or poisons.
- No traps, removal, or extermination.
- No attic cleanup.
- If animals are already living in the attic, removal comes first — we'll tell you that plainly and point you to a wildlife or pest pro. We seal after they're out, never while they're inside.
- Bats are protected in Michigan. Michigan DNR advises avoiding exclusion during maternity season, typically May through mid-August, to prevent trapping flightless young. We refer all bat jobs to a wildlife control professional.

Roof pest prevention questions
Will this keep rats and mice out of my attic?
It closes the roof-side openings they use to get in — ridge vents, vent pipes, and gaps around penetrations. That takes away their way in through the roof. It is prevention, not a guarantee: pests can still enter through ground-level gaps, and if animals are already inside, sealing alone won't solve it. We'll tell you honestly what your roof needs.
Do you use poison or traps?
No. We don't use pesticides, traps, or poisons of any kind. We install guards and seal openings with metal and other chew-proof materials. If you need removal or treatment, we'll point you to a pest or wildlife pro.
What about bats?
Bats are protected in Michigan. Michigan DNR advises avoiding exclusion during maternity season, typically May through mid-August, to prevent trapping flightless young. We refer all bat jobs to a wildlife control professional.
Will a vent cap block airflow or trap sewer gas?
No — we use vented caps with wide openings that keep air moving. A plumbing vent must never be sealed shut, and a cover must never shrink the opening. If a vent needs a different fix, we'll say so.
